I'm not talking about mothers against drunk driving. Retailers are up in arms about a new video game that is glorifying shoplifting according to various merchant associations. The game depicts an adolescent male in the suburbs who accrues goods and cash by shoplifting from retail stores and fencing the booty. For obvious reasons retailers do not want this shoplifting simulator from being mass released. The feeling is that teens will not only mimic the game but that shoplifters skills will be sharpened much as a flight simulator helps in the training of pilots. Certain stores in the game even have antishoplifting EAS equipment which must be circumvented. Just ridiculous!
